Not Succombing to Bitterness While Waiting to Adopt

It’s so hard to wait. Summer seems to be filled with  a million happy families everywhere you turn taking their kids for bike rides, ice cream, posting updates on Facebook about Disneyland vacations and going to visit grandma and grandpa. It’s so hard not to get jealous, isn’t it? I remember those days well. I tried [...]

Discovering Signs That Adoption is God’s “Plan A”

I love how this woman, author All You Who Hope: Adoption blog, described her emotional journey to adoption. . . I hate saying that things are signs. Obviously, these articles and videos are out there for everyone to consume. I’m not implying that God had all of these people conspire just so I could know that [...]

Chapmans Open Maria’s Big House of Hope

Regardless of your beliefs, you may have heard last year when Steven Curtis Chapman, Christian singer, mourned the tragic accident of one of his adopted daughters, Maria Sue. A sibling accidentally backed the truck up. A family’s nightmare– however, has turned into a quest for hope to make her legacy long-standing. Today Steven Curtis and his [...]

Hi all! We are currently on hold as far as our adoption goes. My RA has been a bit out of control for the last year...long story! We suffered a really bad adoption loss in Jan of '08. We are going on 7 years of trying to become parents...it's been a long road...but God is faithful.

I have adopted our four daughters. We went through an agency for our first, but soon realized that we couldn't continue to afford a whole family this way. God lead us into foster care and we have adopted three girls through this route. It's more of a leap of faith this way because you don't always get to know up front what the "side effects" so to speak will be. Our second and third daughters we know have struggles with hyperactivity. ADHD is a whole new realization in our house. We also have fetal alcohol diagnoisis and a few others also. Sometimes I wonder why God thought I could be the mother for these children, but yet am glad he did. As with everything in life you will have struggles, but you always seem to get by and God always provides. The whole process of adoption is amazing. We have been well educated in this area because of the unique routes we have taken. It's just nice to know that there are others out there. I have days that are so gloom. It's so hard to be the kind of mom you want to be when you are limited. I have cried about this to God and he just tells me that his strength is sufficient. I guess the struggles will make them stronger in the end too. I would love to visit with anyone who has been here or anyone whom I maybe able to help.
Thanks
Teresa

Becuase of my illnesses I was not able to get pregnant. We have adopted two children who are now ages 20 and 22. I don't know what I would have done if I would have had to go through life not being able to be a mom. Both of my children were adopted as infants. My daughter was 5 weeks and we went through an agency. My son was 3 days old and he was a private adoption. I cried when I knew I would never give birth and God really came through in my pain and blessed me and my husband. They are precious and I wouldn't change a thing. My son does suffer with an addiction problem which I feel was inherited from his biological parents but we are working with him and I know God has a plan for his life in ministry working with other young people who suffer from addictions. GOD IS GOOD!
